GURUGRAM In a first major rationalisation exercise, the Gurugram Met-ropolitan Development Authonty (GMDA) has dis continued the services of 20 officials who were working on contractual extensions after Tetirement, citing age limits, prolonged tenures and performance -related concerns.
The move comes amid sustained criticism from civic activists and residents’ groups, who had long described the GMDA as a “retirement rehabilitation unit” due to its heavy reliance en retired engineers and officials. Residents’ bodies had repeatedly flagged that the engagement of personnel ability and limiting opportunities for younger officers. GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena said the decision followed a detailed internal review aimed at improving organisational efficiency and accountability, “Officials who were above the age of 65 years and those who had bee contract for long durations without significant contribution were not considered for extension.
