CHANDIGARH Owning a home in Haryana, especially in the National Capital Region (NCR), is set to become dearer with the Nayab Singh Saini gov-ernment effecting a 10 per cent hike in external devel-opment charges (EDC) across 46 towns of the state.
The revised rates will come into force from January 1, 2026. Orders to effect were issued on Tuenak by AK Singh, Additional Cer Secretary, Town and Coun Planning Department. The enthursced EDC will apply to all residential zones, industri-al, commercial and mixed-use projects. The hike is raxpected to push up property prices, partic ularly in high-demand areas such as Gurugram, Faridabad and Panchkul EDC is a fee collected by the state government from developers to fund cadernal infrastructure such as roads, water supply, electricity and sewerage networks outside projent areas.
