As India scales its renewable energy (RE) capacity to achieve a non-fossil target of 500 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft. Bijli Yojana are shaping up to be a significant drive of this growth doubled in FY26. and In the financial year ending March 2026, 21.2 lakh households benefited from rooftop solar installations under the scheme. This double the 10.8 lakh installations in FY25 and pushed the overall installation base to over 32 lakh households.
The scheme was launched in February 2024 with a target of installations in 1 crore households.
